The National Safety Council has released a new report detailing workplace injuries. The NSC works to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the roads. Using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the report breaks down injuries in the workforce by how many are hurt, how workers are injured, and which occupations have the largest number of injuries.
By the Numbers – Nearly 13,000 American workers are injured each day, which translates to 540 workers per hour, 90,400 workers per week, and 4.7 million workers each year. The report found in 2014, these injuries are equivalent to 99 million production days lost due to work-related injuries. Sadly, these injuries are preventable. Employers can take action to avoid this needless pain and suffering.
